Through our educational programs and partnerships we aim to strengthen community awareness of medicinal herbs as a component of holistic health and bring the deep wisdom of nature connection into the community one seed at a time.

Our farm was started in 2013 by Susan Pincus and is located on unceded land of the Nipmuc and Picumtuc people, also known today as the Pioneer Valley of Western Massachusetts. We offer a fresh herb CSA providing a diversity of medicinal and culinary herbs throughout the growing season. In the spring we fill our greenhouse with certified organic plant starts for gardeners. Year-round we offer tea blends and bulk dried herbs.

Sawmill spent 11 years farming in Florence on Grow Food Northampton land before transitioning to our long-term home in Montague, MA.

Susan Pincus

Susan Pincus is the owner of Sawmill Herb Farm. She began her apprenticeship with the natural world at a young age with walks in the woods and a garden in the backyard. Susan trained for many years as an herbalist and naturalist with teachers at Thyme Herbal, Clearpath Herbals and Wolftree, among others. In addition, Susan is a Certified Practitioner of Radical Aliveness, a unique somatic healing modality that works with the intersection of systemic reality and emotional process.

Naomi

Naomi (she/her) finds meaning and magic in spending time with plants. She feels grateful to have landed at Sawmill Herb Farm, where she is able to tune in and stay present with the pace of the seasons from the excitement of spring greenhouse season, to full bloom peak summer season, and even through the deep dark introspective and integrating winter season. Naomi enjoys making medicine to share, and is always learning more about herself through working, harvesting, and playing with plants. As a relatively recent transplant to the pioneer valley (2021), she is building and rooting, and is thrilled to be with Sawmill for her third season!
